Welcome to the first preview of the Florida Mayhem for Season 2 of the Overwatch League. This will be a weekly series to give you the rundown on who the Mayhem will be playing and players from both teams to look out for. Overwatch League Season 2 is here, so let’s dive into the Stage 1 Week 1 action.
Atlanta Reign 0-0-0 (Feb 15 @ 8:30pm EST)
Atlanta Reign is set to be one of the powerhouse rosters this season, with international talent such as dafran, pokpo and masaa. Many fans have speculated about potential communication issues with an international roster like this, but Atlanta can and has to prove these rumors to be false. For the Mayhem, the redemption arc has begun, and they need to show the world what they are truly capable of.
This match up is going to be a close one, with Atlanta Reign utilizing their assets of Pokpo, Daco and Gator as an All-Star Tank line. We also have to watch out for the legend himself, dafran, looking to show the world that his mechanical skills are unrivaled. Florida Mayhem have an ace up their sleeve too however, the amazing support line of Kris and HaGoPeun. The Mayhem have been training together to create a cohesive unit to be reckoned with; they need to come up big here in order to establish their dominance as a competitive team for this season.
Both teams are going to deliver an unforgettable experience this Friday when they go head-to-head. Their diverse rosters are sure to make heads spin with the overall mechanical skill that these players have, and it is sure to be exciting.
Official Prediction: 3-2 in Favor of Florida Mayhem
Time to Bring the Mayhem
This week marks a big step for the Mayhem organization as it sets its sights on building a greater foundation than that of last season’s shortcomings. But with the sudden release of Coach r2der less than a month ago and the addition of Assistant Coach “YEAH” and Tank player “SNT” stepping up, many fans and analysts are still weary of what is to come.
With all of this change coming so close to the beginning of the season, a lot of speculation still revolves around the two Western stars on the team: Kevyn “TviQ” Lindstrom and Damon “Apply” Conti. Unfortunately for fans, Apply will not be making an appearance in the first two matches as disciplinary action regarding “Account Boosting.” This still leaves TviQ to fill out the DPS role, and many fans question where he fits in with the Korean core roster.
But with all the speculations and reservations many people have towards the team and organization, many fans are still ready to Bring the Mayhem and see this team reach new heights. Let’s take a look at who you should be watching out for in the match.
Player Profile: Sayaplayer
With the addition of Jung-woo “Sayaplayer” Ha in Stage 3 last season, the Florida Mayhem saw a shining star emerge in their DPS line. Sayaplayer is a talented hit-scan specialist with remarkable Widowmaker game play, and he made that clear with his league-leading stats in Stage 4. Although the sniper pick is not popular these days to see, be sure to keep an eye out for whatever new tricks Sayaplayer has up his sleeve.
Player Profile: Gator
An absolute juggernaut when it comes to his skill on Reinhardt, Blake “Gator” Scott is a mainstay in the Atlanta roster. He is also the organization’s only two-way contracted player, meaning he can still play with ATL Academy in games when they need him. As a founding member of the Contenders team GOATS, Gator is credited as one of the founders of the GOATS team composition and Meta. With him at their disposal, be sure to see Atlanta charge forward and use their tanks to stomp any competition.
