Custa raises over $10,000 for Australian Firefighters

Custa Australia Fires Charity stream

Custa, the Overwatch League’s most wholesome veteran, has once again turned his efforts towards doing some good. The former LA Valiant player hosted a charity stream on January 5 to raise money for Australian firefighters. With an initial donation goal of $5,000, Custa subjected himself to four shoeys, a teaspoon of pure vegemite, and donned a koala onesie in the name of saving his homeland. In the end, viewers smashed his goal, raising a total of $10,345.61 for the New South Wales Rural Fire Service.

In a classic “Custa ‘Cooks’” stream format, Custa attempted to bake both an apple pie and a fruit pizza. Additionally, he hosted a second stream in which he attempted to cook the dishes promised by his donation goals. These included a risotto, halibut, beef wellington, and a chocolate souffle for dessert. Throughout the stream, his chat good-naturedly offered him advice on constructing the dishes without much threat to life and limb.

Custa’s efforts join those of other Australian streamers, including Loserfruit and Fasffy, who have used their platforms to raise money for the firefighting effort. According to the BBC, as of Monday, an estimated 130 bush fires are raging across the island nation. A majority of these fires are along the coast of New South Wales. The money raised by Custa and his Twitch viewers will go towards supporting the firefighters and their families.

The NSW Rural Fire Service is still accepting donations to support their efforts to control the bush fires. To contribute to the effort of fighting the bush fires, click here.
