With around a week until season 2 of the Overwatch League commences, the Shanghai Dragons announced that Lee “Fearless” Eui-Seok will be traveling back home to Korea for a non-specific amount of time.
Why?
Fearless, a main tank for the Dragons, is currently one of the three remaining players from last season’s roster. The team has stated that it has been incredibly difficult for him to keep up with the team’s demanding practice schedule. Fearless reached out to upper management with an issue of declining health earlier in the year. In response, Shanghai lovingly opened up their arms to help their main tank.
What Now?
Moving forward, it looks that the Dragons will be short-staffed on their tank line to start out the season. With Joon-hwan “GuardiaN” Cho as an off-season addition to the roster, the Dragons will still have two tank players. In the past, Se-yeon “Geguri“ Kim has been able to flex to Orisa. It will be interesting to see how the Dragons’ roster will fare in a GOATs meta on February 14th.
As of right now, the illness and timetable for recovery are unknown. Our thoughts and prayers reach out to Fearless as we hope he makes a speedy recovery back into the Overwatch League.
