The Los Angeles Gladiators have signed Byung-ho “Panker” Lee from the Gladiators Legion for Season 2 of the Overwatch League on a two-way contract. The main tank player was a mainstay in the Gladiators Legion lineup since he signed with the team in early 2018. Panker joins the Los Angeles Gladiators as another new option at main tank. The LA Gladiators signed Chang-hoon “rOar” Gye in late October, to fill the main tank gap left by Chan-hyung “Fissure” Baek. Panker will continue to lead the line for the Gladiators Legion as part of his two-way contract.
“We’re happy to welcome Panker to part of the OWL roster. We have at least two players in every position except main tank. He’s done an excellent job as main tank in our Contenders and will be a great back up”, said Charlie Lipsie, Director of Esports for the Gladiators.
Panker will be a warm welcome for the LA Gladiators, as they introduce more and more Korean players into their lineup. Their recent signings include rOar and Gui-un “Decay” Jang. Along with previous Gladiators players Jun-woo “Void” Kang and Hyung-seok “Bischu” “Aaron” Kim, the Gladiators have four Korean Players. The addition of Panker would make it five.
Panker previously played on Toronto Esports and Team Kongdoo Uncia. This past season in North American Contenders he helped the Gladiators Legion to second place in group A for the regular season. They eventually fell to NRG Esports in the quarterfinals.
The Los Angeles Gladiators fell in similar fashion, losing in the quarterfinals of the Season Playoffs against the eventual champions, London Spitfire.
