Garnett is a former NBA player who most notably made a name for himself playing for the Minnesota Timberwolves and then won a championship with the Boston Celtics. After announcing his retirement back in 2016, Garnett moved on to create Big Ticket LLC. Big Ticket LLC owns the Hoop It Up basketball and Kick It soccer tours. With this move, Garnett will be joining a growing list of celebrity athletes who have gotten involved in esports. Stars like Shaquille O’Neal and Steph Curry have recently invested in organizations such as NRG and TSM respectively. According to Garnett, investing in Triumph Esports seemed like a “natural fit” as both companies strive to create unique experiences for their fans across the world.

Triumph Esports is still a relatively new organization. They are a full-service esports company which includes Rivalcade, a competitive esports event company, and Triumph Gaming. Triumph Gaming was founded in the fall of 2018 by Jake “Epic” Laumann and Brad “PYYYOUR” Ross. While Triumph has player rosters for games like APEX and Team Fight Tactics, they are most recognizable by fans of Overwatch Contenders. Triumph Gaming started as an open division team, opting to earn their spot in Contenders Trials instead of buying their way in despite their resources. Triumph quickly became a fan favorite within the scene thanks to their incredible graphics and their engagement within the community. They are currently third in the standings for NA West and will be competing for a spot in playoffs later today at 6:00 PM EST.

Be sure to tune in for Triumph’s playoff game against Tea Party at 3:00 PM PDT/6:00 PM EST!
