Boston Uprising Welcome Aaron “Pre” Heckman as the New General Manager

Publish Date: November 10, 2022

Just a day after announcing the departure of their Head Coach, the Boston Uprising have made their first addition of the offseason. On Thursday November 10, the Uprising announced that Aaron “Pre” Heckman will serve as the organizations next General Manager. Pre entered the league working on the New York Excelsior staff before spending the past three years as the General Manager for the Washington Justice.

Pre fills in the hole left by the depature of previous GM Vytis “Mineral” Lasaitis, after he left earlier in the offseason. Pre marks the third General Manager for the Uprising franchise.

Under Pre’s leadership, the Washington Justice experienced mixed results due to vastly different roster constructing philosophies. In 2019 the Justice opted for a mixed roster with players hailing from all over. The team ultimately struggled, and finished with an 8-20 record. In 2020 things appeared to be more of the same until a clever contractual maneuver brought in all-star DPS Gui-in “Decay” Jang just before the playoff push. The Justice would go on to place third overall, losing to the Philadelphia Fusion, barely missing the Grand Finals bracket.

2021 and 2022 saw the Justice perform relatively well, but the results in the minds of some fans were a bit disappointing based on the strength of the signed rosters.

Pre has plenty of work to do to turn around the Uprising. The tough decisions are surely on their way as Boston needs to find a new coaching staff, and decide which players are sticking around for 2023.
