On Monday, May 11, the Boston Uprising have announced the signing of former Uprising Academy flex-tank Leyton “Punk” Gilchrist. The Uprising welcome the new signing to the team after having only 6 players available to play for the past month.

Punk had played for the Uprising Academy for a total of three seasons, with one season in between to play for the Sydney Drop Bears. Outside of Contenders, Punk has also represented Australia in the Overwatch World Cup in 2018 and 2019. He has played with an array of former and current OWL players such as Gia Huy “MirroR” Trinh, Ashley “Trill” Powell, and Scott “Custa” Kennedy.
Sources close to the signing noted that as a dual-citizen of Australia and the United States, Punk will not need to battle visa issues in order to start playing. The Uprising look towards the new addition to create a spark for the struggling team. Punk’s familiarity with the organization will surely be helpful as he adjusts from Contenders to OWL.
