The Boston Uprising have added another top-tier veteran to the roster. On the morning of Thursday, October 28, the Boston Uprising announced the signing of Min-seo “Marve1” Hwang for the 2022 season. The newest tank player joins the Uprising after spending the past three seasons with the Seoul Dynasty.
Marve1 joined the league in 2018 just after the Inaugural Season, signing with the Seoul Dynasty. Marve1 helped the Dynasty make the 2019 playoffs and finish in the 7-8th spot. In 2020 Marve1 came back to Seoul and performed well alongside fellow main tank Jae-hee “Gesture” Hong. Seoul would end up losing in the Grand Finals to the San Francisco Shock in an electric championship match.

Marve1 brings plenty of OWL experience to Boston, and will surely be a key piece in their success in 2022. It looks like Marve1 will be the only main tank player to fill in the gaps with Leyton “Punk” Gilchrist handling the off tank duties. As Overwatch 2 moves to a 5v5 format, it will be fascinating to watch the usage between the two tanks in the upcoming season.
With the Uprising signing Marve1, Boston now has an officially complete roster. Teams need to have at least six members on the roster before the start of the 2022 season. The signing comes with a little less fanfare than the previous signing of Namju “Striker” Gwon earlier in the week, but there is no doubt that Marve1 is a great talent that can bring much needed versality and experience to a rebuilt Boston roster.
