Boston Uprising Parts Ways with GM Mineral

Publish Date: November 2, 2022

While the last few teams are battling it out in the Grand Finals bracket, other teams are making moves for the future. On Wednesday November 2, the Boston Uprising announced the departure of General Manager Vytis “Mineral” Lasaitis. Mineral joined the Uprising back in 2020 as their new Head Coach, and shifted to an Assistant General Manager role after the season. In 2022 Mineral became the full time GM after the Boston Uprising split with their previous GM and President of Gaming, Chris “Huk” Loranger.

Mineral was first introduced to the Boston Uprising fan base during a Q&A stream led by Huk. In that stream Mineral as revealed to be the newest head coach for the Uprising. His lone year as the Uprising HC was marred by several issues that stemmed from outside factors, most of which were exacerbated by the COVID-19 lockdown. After losing four players and a coach from the initial roster, Boston finished dead last with a 2-19 record.

Despite the woeful first impression, Mineral stuck around with the Uprising as the assistant GM to Huk. Boston would go on to improve to 7-9 as in his new role in 2021, and then 10-14 in 2022.

As Mineral leaves the Uprising, it appears as though he has decided to step away from Overwatch for the time being. In a statement from Mineral, he noted that he has opted to not ask for an extension with the Uprising. Mineral leaving now leaves a vacancy at the top of an Uprising organization that is now under the guidance of Oxygen Esports.
