Now that the Summer Showdown qualifying rounds are over, it is time to do another stonk report. This will be a different stonk report from the previous ones. Instead of doing individual stonks, the teams will be ranked in groups by how reliable and consistent they are. Instead of the change in stonk value, it ill be a ranking of stonks. Welcome to the OWL Stonk Market.
Top Tier Stonks: SF Shock, Shanghai Dragons
These two teams are the cream on the crop right now. They have dominated their regions throughout the whole season, save a few losses, and have two of the deepest rosters in the league. The Shock and Dragons rank in a tier of their own because no matter who they play, they are expected to win and they do win. No other team has that distinction and follows through on it.
High Ceiling, High Floor Stonks: Philadelphia Fusion, Florida Mayhem, LA Valiant, Guangzhou Charge, NYXL, Paris Eternal
This next tier of teams is filled with many of the other top ten teams in OWL. The Fusion, Mayhem, Valiant, Charge, and Eternal are all extremely talented teams and comprise the top third of the NA division right now. Meanwhile, the Charge and NYXL fill out the top three teams in Asia currently. All of these teams have great DPS lines that are surrounded by other great talent. These teams could reach the next tier with consistent domination, but that will take some time.
Rising Stonks: Hangzhou Spark
Hangzhou get their own tier for specific reasons; their roster is significantly changed. In the past three weeks te Spark added Architect, QoQ, and M1ka came of age. Essentially, the replaced their flex DPS, off-tank, and added another main support. While their performance this past week was not promising, the prior week was great despite going 1-1. Hangzhou could easily be in the prior tier, but they need to do more before being moved there.
Low Floor, High Ceiling Stonks: Atlanta Reign, Seoul Dynasty, Houston Outlaws, Dallas Fuel
These teams all have one thing in common; disappointment. All of them had high preseason expectations, whether that be Seoul and Atlanta being top five or Houston and Dallas no longer being mediocre. Alas, none of that has changed. Some teams are moving up like Houston, but the others remain mid-table while losing games they should win and vice versa. They are the hardest to judge of all the teams.
Muddy Area Stonks: London Spitfire, LA Gladiators
Both these teams are really weird. They both could be in the previous tier, but they deserve their own for different reasons. The Gladiators have lots of talent, but they under-perform. Their talent at positions is not as good as the teams above them, but they have a similar talent level.
The Spitfire meanwhile are a more interesting case. They are a roster of brand new players many of which are extremely talented. Their main issue is they are probably the second worst team in Asia by default. This team will likely look even better next year, but for now their stonks are low.
Low Stonks: Washington Justice, Vancouver Titans, Toronto Defiant, Chengdu Hunters, Boston Uprising
The bottom five teams have the lowest stonks, go figure. While these teams are all grouped together, some are on the higher end of this scale. The Hunters are the highest rated team out of all of these. Simply put, if they were not sequestered in APAC they would have a better record. Washington is sitting at the bottom of this list, with the rest filling in between. There teams need to do a lot of work to raise their stonks up a tier.
