A new Overwatch 2 Map has been revealed on the official Overwatch 2 Twitter. This is looking to be an interesting new control map set out on a major Pacific Island. It is bring up questions of who the next Overwatch Hero could be as well. Here is a quick look at the new Overwatch 2 Map, Samoa.
Here is the Tweet confirming the next map to be Samoa.
As stated in the official release, this map will be a new control map. This is the first one since Overwatch 2 went to Antarctica. more information will be shared with the public during the Overwatch League Grand Finals in Toronto on October 1, 2023.
There was a leak showing off this map just days before its official release by the Overwatch 2 development team.
Since it looks like this leak is true or at least the map portion is, there will no doubt be some interesting new content coming with it. Looks like there will be a Lillith skin coming to game. Also, the new season will be called Rise of Darkness.
The biggest question the release of this map brings with it is Mauga. This character has been known about since the release of Baptiste all the way back in March of 2019.
While not confirmed to be from Samoa, his name along with the tattoos he is shown to have could indicate this. Check out this image of him below.

Even the attire that Mauga is wearing signifies something to do with warmer weather and generally islands.
If feels hard to assume that this is not a coincidence considering the next Overwatch 2 hero is confirmed to be a tank. Could they even release him in a surprise with Season 7? That would be off-schedule for the Overwatch 2 team but it is not entirely out of the realm of possibility.
Once more is known, The Game Haus will make sure to keep all Overwatch 2 fans updated.
