The next Overwatch 2 hero has officially been revealed. While we knew what he looked like and that he was being added later in 2025, we only had his codename. Well, Aqua is no longer going by that name, instead, let us introduce you to the new Overwatch 2 Hero, Wuyang.
It looks as if Wuyang will be on Overwatch 2 even sooner than expected. Well, that is a bit of a misstatement; he will have his hero trial during Season 17.
His release is not expected until Season 18 which will be sometime in August or early September. Luckily, they are allowing us to give him a test-drive in Season 17, which starts on June 24, 2025. Their hope is that this will help them to make changes based on player feedback. It is not entirely unique as many games do this but it has been nice seeing Overwatch do this.
The Overwatch 2 Wuyang abilities and weapon are still unknown for the most part. What we do know is that he will use water in some way to attack.
Along with this, these abilities will be able to “manipulate the battlefield”. Could this be that he is similar to Mei in being able to create walls or maybe traps that opponents can fall into?
His weapon is also something that is worth discussing. As of now, they are claiming that no other game will have a weapon like Wuyang’s. We have gotten a look at it, and it looks like a staff of some sort. There are little blue almost crystals in the staff. Other than that, we just see him floating a sphere of water above his finger. There is a good chance that Wuyang will be a complicated hero, so be ready to fully use the hero trial to test him out.
