With the launch of Overwatch 2 getting closer Blizzard announced a feature that fans of the title have been asking for. Overwatch 2 Cross Progression has now been officially announced.
With the launch of cross-progression, players can now finally merge their multiple Overwatch accounts to carry progression and in-game cosmetics into Overwatch 2 on a single profile. Starting August 16, every player with a linked console account will be prompted at login to identify, select, and confirm the accounts they would like to merge if multiple accounts exist. Once this process is approved, Bizzard will begin to prepare the accounts to be merged during the release of Overwatch 2.
All players will need a battle.net account to play Overwatch 2. This is regardless of whichever platform Overwatch 2 will be played on. Progress from any linked console accounts will be stored on the preferred battle.net account, which will share in-game cosmetics and progress across the linked accounts.
Players must be aware of the following statement. There will be one opportunity to merge console accounts. It is crucial that players are confident about which accounts they would like to merge. There will be no redos.
What Will Be Merged
In-Game Achievements– All in-game achievements earned across each platform will be present in the merged battle.net account. Console-specific achievements will remain on their respective platforms
Endorsements– Your highest endorsement will carry over to your merged account.
Statistics– Separated by input pool, total values such as playtime or number of wins, will be summed. Best values, like hero accuracy or kill streaks, will take the highest value from the merged accounts.
Skill Rating– Competitive and skill ratings will be separated by PC and console input pools. The highest rank will be taken if players merge multiple console accounts.
In-Game Items– All items in the Hero Gallery across platforms will be present in the merged battle.net account. This includes all sprays, emotes, skins, and everything else in the current Hero Gallery tab in-game. Any duplicate cosmetics across platforms will be merged into a single battle.net account.
The platforms included in the account merge are Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
