Overwatch 2 Hero Bans Announced for Season 16

Publish Date: February 13, 2025

Overwatch 2 is evolving to try and keep up with new hero shooters like Marvel Rivals and now they are adding Hero Bans. This has been something that players have been asking for and now it is being delivered. It will not be coming until Season 16 but here is what we know about Overwatch 2 Hero Bans.

Overwatch 2 Hero Bans

Overwatch 2 Hero Bans are going to be added in Season 16.

This means that in April of 2025, there will be something added to the game that many players have hoped and prayed for. The ability to take a couple of very strong heroes off the board will certainly be a welcome change. How many will be banned and who will get to ban them is still not known. In the past it has been tested and the team would agree on one to two heroes each. With the hero pool growing to 43 in this same season, there will still be many heroes that will be available even the bans.

Overwatch 2 developers will also be able to see which heroes the players think are overpowered. This information can help them with balance changes. While there will always be some characters that are stronger than others, allowing the players to help determine that is very empowering and will help the players enjoy the game more.

Overwatch 2 Map Voting

Another aspect that will be added is Map Voting.

Not only will this help the Overwatch 2 players to get some of their more favorite maps, but this will also give the devs some important data. Since the launch of the original Overwatch, there have been maps that some players love and others that they strongly dislike. Instead of needing surveys or other methods, the Overwatch 2 team can get direct data to see what maps they may need to take another look at.
