Overwatch 2 Announces Perks

Publish Date: February 13, 2025

Overwatch 2 is evolving to try and keep up with new hero shooters like Marvel Rivals and they are adding perks. A brand way to play as your favorite heroes and villains that will see them evolve as the game goes on and allow you to adjust to what is needed in-game. But what does all of that mean? Here is a look at the new Perks System coming to Overwatch 2.

Overwatch 2 Perks

Overwatch 2 Perks are going to be where you can choose an upgrade to one of your abilities in the game and there are different ones for each hero.

If you have played Pokemon Unite, this is pretty much a carbon copy of that. As you go through the game, you will level up and then pick an ability upgrade or perk as you go on. There are two different perks, one is minor and the other major. Minor Perks will be smaller abilities, they gave the example of Torb either restoring armor health to allies or refilling his gun with ammo when Overload is activated.

Then for the major they gave the example of Orisa having her Javelin increase its speed and knockback while being able to go through units or bringing back her shield wall. With the major one you are seemingly either enhancing or replacing an ability.

When are Perks Launching?

Perks will be coming to Overwatch 2 much sooner that expected.

They will be available with Overwatch 2 Season 15 which launches on February 18, 2025. This means that the game will be changing substantially just a few days after the reveal. Players have been holding out hope that the Overwatch 2 dev team would not waste all that they had worked in for the Story mode that we never got.

It seems as though they have reworked it to better fit the new path that they are going down. Players will get the chance to experience this soon and it will be interesting to see how they feel about these new changes.
