The San Jose Sharks have named Logan Couture as their newest captain. He is now the 10th captain in franchise history, replacing Joe Pavelski. Brent Burns, Tomas Hertl, Erik Karlsson, and Joe Thornton were announced as alternate captains.
There are a lot of leaders on this team. So we needed a lot of letters.

Couture, 30, will be the 10th captain in Sharks franchise history. He replaced Joe Pavelski, who joined the Dallas Stars in free agency this offseason. Last season he scored 27 goals and 43 assists (70 points). Couture was even more impressive in the playoffs posting 14 goals and 20 points in 20 games.

“Since I arrived in San Jose four seasons ago, we have been blessed with a tremendous amount of leadership on our roster,” head coach Peter DeBoer said in a statement. “Logan has grown up within that environment and evolved into someone who not only plays his best hockey when it matters the most, but who also leads by example off the ice. He knows what it takes to win and his performance in our recent playoff runs reflects that.”
More to come…
