The Nashville Predators are open to trading some players to make some roster adjustments and Filip Forsberg seems to be a possible choice.
Forsberg has been the center of attention regarding trading for some time now. He is, of course, a valuable asset for the Preds. He has great potential and talent that he brings to the ice. At just 26-years old, Forsberg has made many contributions to the team.
Forsberg has been a part of Smashville since 2013 after being traded to the Preds from the Washington Capitals.
Throughout his early years with the Preds, he has contributed to the team’s success. For example, Forsberg registered two hat-tricks in just a four-day period. This is a feat not many NHL players have been able to accomplish, though.
In addition, Forsberg was leading in scoring for the Preds and set a career high of 64 points and 33 goals at the conclusion of the 2015-16 season.
Of course, Forsberg has demonstrated that he is having a successful NHL career. What he brings to the table is what makes him a valuable player for any team. So, if Forsberg gets traded, there are a handful of teams already looking to pick him up.
There are many teams who have already shown interest in getting Forsberg should he be traded soon. The New York Islanders are one of them.
The Islanders are certainly looking for a player like Forsberg because he can help the team bring in goals and turn them into crucial wins.
However, the possibility of Forsberg being traded to the Isles isn’t quite as easy as it sounds. Forsberg’s value must be factored in. He will bring a $6 million cap hit and based on the Isle’s cap space right now, adding Forsberg to the roster may not be ideal at the moment.
To bring a player of such value on the roster like Forsberg would force the Isles to make some important roster changes.
In addition to the Isles, the Montreal Canadiens, Philadelphia Flyers, Calgary Flames and the Boston Bruins have all showed interest in picking up Forsberg if he ends up being traded.
