Filip Forsberg is going to be sidelined 4-6 weeks with an upper-body injury. Forsberg acquired the injury during a 4-2 loss to the Minnesota Wild. Before the injury, Forsberg had played in 325 consecutive games (per NHL)
He ends his 325 consecutive games streak at an essential time for the Predators. The Predators currently sit in third place in the Central Division with 51 points. During Forsberg’s absence, the Preds will play six teams that play in the Western Conference.
Forsberg leads the Predators in goals with 15 and points with 34. In the two previous games without Forsberg, the Predators have beaten division rival Minnesota 3-0 and lost to the Vegas Golden Knights 0-3. Thankfully for Nashville Forsberg’s injury comes at a point in the season where they only play two division opponents. Nashville’s 51 points also has them five points ahead of the Ducks for the last wild-card spot.
The 325 consecutive games played streak puts his last game missed in the 2013-2014 season. It will be uncharted territory for the Predators, but as a whole they should be okay in his absence.
