The NFL returns in just over a week with the Buffalo Bills hosting the Los Angeles Rams to open the season on September the 9th. The Bills are one of the pre-season favorites to go on and win the Super Bowl in Arizona next February.
Outright Odds
In terms of the NFL odds for the new season, the Bills are offered at 8/11 in Paddy Power’s NFL odds to win their opening fixture against the Rams. The Bills once again led by star man Josh Allen at quarterback have a much stronger overall roster, having added many fresh faces to the squad.
The free agent signing of DaQuan Jones brought much-needed experience and versatility, Jones is a player that is a very good receiver whilst also being effective at putting pressure on the opposition quarterback.
Jamison Crowder was also brought in on a free transfer as the Bulls further bolstered the wide receiver position with another experienced player that poses a huge problem for the opposition defensive line.
The Houston Texans are seen to have little chance to win their opener offered at 14/5 to claim victory against Indianapolis Colts, but the Texans have been in incredible pre-season form.
Winning all three of their games including shutting out the San Francisco 49ers, the Texans could be about to provide some shocks in the upcoming season, they are a very young inexperienced side but they will be desperate to prove the doubters wrong in the coming months.
Philadelphia Eagles are odds on at 40/85 to win their first game against Detroit Lions, despite enduring a disappointing pre-season including a 48-10 thrashing at the hands of the Miami Dolphins.
However, the Eagles utilized pre-season to trial free agents they brought in for the summer, many of which they have now waived back into the free agency, and so their starting roster has not played together yet.
Cincinnati Bengals
The Cincinnati Bengals are favorites to win their first fixture against the Pittsburgh Steelers with prices of 4/11. In addition, they could be boosted by this week by the signing of free agent O.J. Howard, who was released by the Bills at the conclusion of their pre-season.
Howard would be a great option at tight end for the Bengals, helping to put pressure on the opposition quarterbacks, forcing them to release their pass more quickly, increasing mistakes, and bringing his team possession more frequently.
Another of the main favorites heading into the season is Tampa Bay Buccaneers who will culminate the first game week on September the 12th. The Buccaneers are odds-on favorites to defeat Dallas Cowboys and claim maximum points going into game week two.
The Tampa Bay outfit is boosted by Tom Brady agreeing to play one final season and the legendary player will be desperate to add one final Super Bowl success. He has a fairly strong chance of doing so, being a born leader amongst an exceptional roster. Brady will not find himself short of receivers to benefit from his passing ability this season and that could make all of the difference.
