The Giants could get their backup back ahead of Week 14’s Monday Night Football game. Tyrod Taylor has been designated to return from injured reserve, and his 21-day practice window is now open. A rib injury landed him on IR a few weeks ago.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported the news via Twitter on Monday.
Taylor has gone 1-2 in his three starts so far this season. He’s gathered 572 passing yards and two touchdowns on 65.5 percent completion, and has also rushed 22 times for 98 yards and five first downs. He entered the fold after Daniel Jones (on a fresh, $40 million per year contract) went down for the year.
Former Syracuse quarterback Tommy DeVito has been starting in Taylor’s stead. He’s gone 2-1 in three starts, throwing for seven touchdowns and three interceptions. He’s also racked up 697 yards on almost 63 percent completion. The team now has to decide whether to stick with the hot hand or go with the veteran against the surging Packers, who just beat the Kansas City Chiefs in primetime.
