Colts defensive end Tyquan Lewis has suffered a season ending injury. A torn patellar tendon suffered in the Colts’ loss to the Washington Commanders will sideline Lewis for the rest of the season. He has been placed on injured reserve and will undergo surgery.
The NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported the news via Twitter on Monday.
Lewis was drafted in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft out of college, where he was a member of the first College Football Playoff championship team. He was the Big Ten defensive lineman of the year in 2016.
So far in 2022, Lewis played in seven games, starting four of them. He had 14 combined tackles, including one sack. He also deflected two passes and forced a fumble this season. This is the second year in a row his season has been ended by a knee injury in Week 8.
