The Jets have seen enough from quarterback Zach Wilson. They have now named (former) third stringer Tim Boyle as the starter for Black Friday’s game against the Miami Dolphins. It will be his fourth-ever NFL start.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported the news via Twitter on Monday.
Boyle went undrafted in the 2018 NFL Draft after playing for both UConn and Eastern Kentucky University. In 25 games at UConn, he threw just one touchdown while tossing 13 interceptions. After sitting out in 2016, he started in 12 games for the EKU Colonels, throwing 11 touchdowns and 13 picks.
The Jets signed Boyle in 2023, likely because he spent three seasons backing up Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay. He, then, bounced around the NFC North, starting his only three games up to this point in Detroit, then becoming a Bears backup in 2022. On 120 NFL passing attempts, he’s thrown three touchdowns and nine picks.
