The Philadelphia Eagles could take Breece Hall in the NFL Draft

Philadelphia Eagles Breece Hall

The Eagles could be losing some key pieces to their rushing attack during the offseason. Both Boston Scott and Jordan Howard are set to become free agents. This means that the Eagles are going to have to start looking for replacements for these two key running backs. There are reports that the Eagles talked to Iowa State standout Breece Hall during the NFL Draft Combine. Furthermore, it was said that the talks between Hall and the Eagles went well. Here is a look at the possibility of the Philadelphia Eagles taking Breece Hall in the NFL Draft.

His time at Iowa State

Breece Hall was ultra-impressive during his three years playing for Iowa State. During those years Hall accomplished a lot such as being a contender in the Heisman Trophy race to being the rushing leader in college football in 2020. Hall established himself and Iowa State as a force to be reckoned with in college football. The Iowa State running back made an impression right off the bat during his freshman year in 2019. He rushed for 897 yards and had ten rushing touchdowns. Furthermore, Hall also had 252 yards receiving and one touchdown during the 2019 campaign.

During his sophomore year, he really excelled to the next level where he became one of the best running backs in the nation. He rushed for 1,572 yards, which ended up being tops in college football in 2020. Furthermore, he had 23 rushing touchdowns, which was good for being the most in the Big 12.  As for receiving he declined a bit as he had 180 receiving yards and two touchdowns. He would end up finishing sixth in the Heisman Trophy race that year. Finally, during his junior season Hall did much of the same. He rushed for 1,472 yards and 23 touchdowns.  He also had a career-high in receiving yards in 2021, as he had 301 receiving yards and three touchdowns. It is safe to say that Breece Hall established himself as one of the best running backs in Iowa State history.

Is he a good fit for the Eagles?

Hall was known at Iowa State for being a prolific red-zone scorer. He uses his strength and speed to bully his way into the end-zone. Furthermore, Hall also excels in many other areas. Hall is patient and can find holes within the line of scrimmage. He is also great at staying on his feet and breaking tackles from defenders. Furthermore, he has speed in the open field and can leave the defense in the dust if they are not careful.

His skill set will serve him well in the NFL and for the Philadelphia Eagles. He would have a great offensive line to work with and he would complement Miles Sanders nicely. Hall is a bigger running back, as he is 6-foot-1 and weighs 220 pounds. Honestly, he is kind of like Howard in some ways as he has that tough running style where he can bully his way down the field while having a lot of speed. Expect Hall to make a statement in the NFL right away no matter what team he ends up on.

Conclusion and final thoughts

Overall Hall would be a great option for this Eagles offense and would excel right away. The interesting thing about Hall is that he is one of the best running backs on the draft board, but he may not even be taken in the first round. It is likely though that he will be taken in the second round, which is good as the Eagles have more pressing positions to fill in the first round of the draft.
