The New England Patriots are trading receiver Kayshon Boutte to the Houston Texans in exchange for safety Jaylen Reed and a 2028 seventh-round pick.
The trade comes a week after news broke that the Texans’ projected No. 2 receiver, Jayden Higgins, tore his ACL during a joint practice.
Boutte, who’s in the final year of his contract, played in 14 games last season with the Patriots and totaled 33 receptions for 551 yards and six touchdowns. He’ll now likely help fill the role left by Higgins and enter a receiver room alongside Nico Collins, Xavier Hutchinson and Tank Dell, who is returning from injury after missing the entirety of the 2025 NFL season.
Boutte was selected in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL Draft and has career totals of 98 receptions for 1,376 yards and 10 touchdowns in three seasons.
In return, the Patriots are receiving safety Jaylen Reed, who was a sixth-round rookie in 2025 and played in seven games last season.
