The Dolphins Offensive Depth Chart and Notes Against the Patriots

Publish Date: September 9, 2021

The Miami Dolphins have released their week one depth chart for this weekend’s regular-season game against the New England Patriots. This article will provide a look at the Dolphins’ offensive depth chart and some notes for the upcoming game against the Patriots. The defensive side of the depth chart and notes on that will be provided later this week.

Offensive Depth Chart

Wide Receivers: DeVante Parker, Preston Williams, Jaylen Waddle, Albert Wilson, Jakeem Grant and Mack Hollins

Left Tackle: Austin Jackson, Greg Little

Left Guard: Solomon KindleyRobert Jones

Center – Michael Deiter, Greg Mancz

Right Guard – Robert Hunt, Robert Jones

Right Tackle – Jesse Davis, Liam Eichenberg

Tight End – Mike Gesicki, Adam Shaheen, Durham Smythe, Cethan Carter and Hunter Long

Running Back – Myles Gaskin, Malcolm Brown and Salvon Ahmed

Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, Jacoby Brissett

Offensive Depth Chart Notes:

Starting with the receivers, Mack Hollins earned a spot on the team after an impressive preseason. Hollins was the leading receiver in yardage in the second preseason game against the Atlanta Falcons. He had 49 yards total receiving yards during that game. Hollins has had a great training camp has become a reliable receiver for this Dolphins team. Jaylen Waddle obviously earned his spot on the team. He has the speed and elusiveness to make big plays on the offensive side on the field and on special teams. He should have a great rookie year for the Miami Dolphins.

 Quarterback Notes

The Dolphins also decided not to have a third-string quarterback. Reid Sinnett got cut from the team, which is a surprising move. He played very well in the Dolphins’ final preseason game against the Bengals. He made good decisions within the pocket and did not try to throw the ball in tight spaces and risk turnovers. The former Dolphins quarterback also threw some beautiful touchdown passes to Kirk Merritt and Chris Myarick. He ended that game with 343 yards passing and two touchdowns. He also had one lone interception that was tipped.

Jacoby Brissett definitely earned the number two position among the quarterbacks though. He showed poise in the pocket and did not turn the ball over once during his two preseason games. He will give the Dolphins a chance to win in the situation that Tua Tagovailoa gets hurt during the season.

 Tight End Notes

The first-string tight end will be Mike Gesicki. Gesicki has really been a game-changer for this Miami Dolphins team. He has soft hands and can find ways to get open down the field. He made quite a few plays during the preseason that gave the Dolphins an opportunity to have a scoring drive. Adam Shaheen may not be on the field during the Patriots game. He has been added to the Covid 19 reserve list. This would be a big loss to the Dolphins since Shaheen has shown in the past that he can make plays. He also complements Gesicki well in the two-tight end offense.

Left Tackle Notes

Austin Jackson, who had a great training camp, is also on the covid 19 reserve list. This will leave Greg Little protecting Tua during the game against the Patriots. Hopefully, the offensive line will not be affected too much by this ongoing situation.

Running Back Notes

Myles Gaskin will start for the Dolphins on Sunday. The Dolphins running back has shown that he could possibly be a franchise running back. He is quick and has a tough running style that allows him to shed tackles. He had a great season in 2020 as he rushed 584 yards and three touchdowns.

Do not be surprised is Salvon Ahmed gets a few carries on Sunday.  Ahmed has shown that he has speed and can serve the Dolphins well in the short rushing game. He does really well at finding holes in the defensive line to burst through and gain yardage.  The Dolphins running back had a pretty good season last year for a backup running back. He totaled for 319 yards and three touchdowns in 2020.

This has been the Dolphins’ offensive depth chart and notes for the game against the Patriots.
