Tershawn Wharton is returning to his home state’s only team on a new deal. The Chiefs are signing the defensive lineman on a one-year, $2 million deal despite him missing a big chunk of time after tearing his ACL in October of 2022.
PFF’s Ari Meirov reported the news via Twitter on Monday.
Wharton, a St. Louis native, went undrafted in the 2020 NFL Draft. The Chiefs took a chance on him, signing him in April of the same year. He ended up making the final roster and made his debut in Week 1 of 2020.
He played in just five games last season, recording one sack and eight combined tackles. Wharton grabbed two sacks in each of his last two campaigns, making an appearance in every single game in the 2020 and 2021 season. He’s started just two games in his career.
