Terry McLaurin reaches 3-year extension with Commanders

Wide receiver Terry McLaurin has agreed to a new contract extension. The Commanders and McLaurin have agreed to a 3-year, $71 million contract extension. He had previously skipped out on Washington’s mandatory minicamps in the 2022 offseason to leverage himself to receive a new deal.

PFF’s Ari Meirov reported the news via Twitter on Tuesday afternoon.

McLaurin grabbed 77 passes for 1,053 yards in 17 games last season. He also added five touchdowns, his second-best mark in the three years he’s played in the league. His 2020 season was arguably even better, as he had more catches (87) and more yards (1,118) in two fewer games than he played in 2021.

With his new contract settled, McLaurin will be catching passes thrown by first-year Washington quarterback Carson Wentz, who flamed out in Indianapolis. The former third-round pick will have to continue his ascension to make this Commanders offense viable.
