Steelers Schedule Among The Easiest in NFL

Publish Date: September 4, 2023

According to Pro Football Focus, the Steelers schedule ranks 12th easiest in the NFL. Sharp Football Analysis, places the Steelers at 7th easiest. This is a drastic change from 2022, in which the Steelers had one of the toughest schedules. Last year, Sharp ranked the Steelers schedule as 4th hardest in the league.

The AFC North is clearly one of the toughest in the NFL, but the Steelers could match up well as detailed in this article. The out of division opponents seem to be on the easier side and could be where the Steelers make up ground.

Week 1: San Francisco 49ers

The Steelers open with the probably toughest team they will play in 2023. However, the game is at home and the 49ers will most likely be without reigning DPOY Nick Bosa. The Steelers could start of the season strong pulling off the 2.5 point upset.

Week 3: at Las Vegas Raiders

The first road game for the Steelers doesn’t come until week three. The raiders project to be one of the worst teams in the NFL, and their stadium, while extravagant, is relatively tame for opposing teams. The Steelers should be favorites on the road.

Week 4: at Houston Texans

In the second part of the road trip, the team travels to Houston. Houston also projects to be quite bad and will be starting rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud. The Steelers defense should have a field day with the underwhelming Texans offense.

Week 7: at Los Angeles Rams

After the bye, the Steelers travel out to Los Angeles. The Rams have a high ceiling with star players Aaron Donald and Cooper Kupp, but they also have a very low floor. A well rested Steelers team should have the edge over a Rams team that lacks depth and continuity.

Week 8: Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jaguars are one of the harder teams on the schedule. Last year, they won a playoff game with rising star Trevor Lawrence. They made many additions in the offseason including getting Calvin Ridley back from his suspension. This game being in Pittsburgh should make it very close, making this game a toss up.

Week 9: Tennessee Titans

By this point in the season, the Titans could be starting rookie quarterback Will Levis. The titans are always physical and well coached, but it’s hard to see them having the talent to be a top team in the AFC. The home field advantage will play a big factor in each teams ability to be physical and grind this game out to the very end.

Week 10: Green Bay Packers

Nobody knows what Jordan Love will look like this season. One thing is certain though, the Packers are always at the minimum decent. In the third home game in a row, the Steelers should look to impress the crowd with either 2 or 3 wins during this stretch.

Week 13: Arizona Cardinals

The Cardinals will most likely be tanking by this point. Kyler Murray may not play the entire season and the Cardinals should look to invest in their future. The Steelers should take care of business at home.

Week 14: New England Patriots

For once the Patriots aren’t a terrifying sight on the schedule. While they should be good this year, it’s going to be a long road for them considering their division and offensive talent. This one should be close though.

Week 15: at Indianapolis Colts

The Colts will most likely have to trade Jonathan Taylor, which was their main weapon on offense. It’s hard to picture a Colts offense being able to score on the Steelers with just Anthony Richardson and Michael Pittman as difference makers.

Week 17: at Seattle Seahawks

The season is capped off with a trip to Seattle. This is one of the most hostile environments to play in and Seattle should be pushing for the playoffs. This will definitely be a difficult last two games on the Steelers schedule.
