The Steelers have officially placed linebacker Ryan Shazier on the Reserve/Retired List. He was previously listed as Physically Unable to Perform (PUP).
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported the news via Twitter on Tuesday afternoon.
Shazier suffered a spinal injury against the Cincinnati Bengals in December of 2017. The spinal injury he suffered threatened to take away his ability to walk, let alone play in the NFL again. His recovery went unexpectedly well, as he caught passes in a preseason game in August of 2019.
It is severely unlikely that Shazier will ever play again in the NFL, as evidenced by this move by Pittsburgh.
