Steelers Lose Two Running Backs for Eagles Exhibition Game

Mike McGrailBy Mike McGrailAugust 8, 2021Updated:August 8, 20212 Mins Read

There’s good news and bad news for fans of the Pittsburgh Steelers today. The good news, running backs Benny Snell and was spotted at practice.

Bad news, he was seen on a stationary bike, not participating in team drills or play running. Reports of Snell on the stationary bike come from live reports from Senior Steelers Writer for The Athletic, Mark Kaboly.

“Steelers in shells today. Benny Snell on the stationary bike. We don’t know his injury but it doesn’t appear he will practice today.” Kaboly tweeted.

Though Kaboly didn’t state specifics of the injury, Head Coach Mike Tomlin said in a post-practice press conference last week that trainers were evaluating Snell.

To top it off, Kalen Ballage, was also not at Saturday practice. The reason, a lower leg injury, according to Tomlin.

Tomlin also added that “he would have more information the next time he spoke to the media.”

Ballage finished the game with five carries for 19 yards and rumbled in for a four-yard touchdown in the third quarter, during the Steelers Hall of Fame game with the Dallas Cowboys, this past week.

It’s to be noted that the regular season has not yet officially begun, but it’s important for the the running backs for the Steelers to remain healthy if they are to start off strong once the that time arrives.

The Steelers’ next exhibition matchup is Thursday, Aug. 12, versus the Eagles in Philadelphia. Their first regualr season game is on September 12 against the currently named Buffalo Bills.
