After the Colts shocked the NFL world by cutting him, Shaquille “Shaq” Leonard has a new team. He chose the Philadelphia Eagles over the Dallas Cowboys and is signing a one-year deal. The two teams play next Sunday.
PFF’s Ari Meirov reported the news via Twitter on Monday.
In nine games so far this season, Leonard has 65 total tackles and no sacks. During his first year in the league, he won Defensive Rookie of the Year and was named to the First Team All-Pro. He followed that year up with three-straight Pro Bowl seasons, including two more First Team All-Pro selections and a Second Team All-Pro. He played in only three games last year due to injury.
Leonard was the 36th overall pick of the second round in the 2018 NFL Draft by the Colts. He had played his entire career with the team before the surprise release. His new team, Philadelphia, lost just their second game on Sunday.
