Sean Payton has agreed to be the next head coach of the Denver Broncos according to multiple sources. Because he is still under contract with the Saints, Denver will send a 2023 first round pick and an early pick in 2024, but will also receive a pick back in return according to Ian Rapoport.
Payton coached the Saints for 15 years before stepping away for the 2022 season. He has one Super Bowl win and a record of 152-89 in his career.
In Denver, Payton will take over for Nathaniel Hackett, who was fired during his first season with the team. Payton will work with Russell Wilson, who had a rough year at quarterback after being traded from Seattle.
