New Orleans Saints kicker Cody Parkey will be placed on injured reserve. This ensures he will be off the field for at least three weeks. As their other kicker, Wil Lutz, is also on IR, the Saints will need to sign another ahead of Week 7.
The NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported the news via Twitter on Tuesday.
#Saints K Cody Parkey, who injured his groin pregame and tried to kick through it, is going on Injured Reserve, source said. New Orleans will need a new kicker.

Parkey injured his groin during pre-game warmups in Week 5, before playing the Washington Football Team. He attempted five extra points, making three of them. He did not attempt a field goal in the contest, but kicked off three times. Week 5 was Parkey’s first game in a Saints uniform.
Lutz has been the Saints’ primary kicker since 2016. In September, he decided to undergo surgery on a core muscle that placed him on injured reserve for up to eight weeks. New Orleans has a bye in Week 6, giving them extra time to find a replacement for the two veterans.
