The Baltimore Ravens clinched a 38-6 victory against the Cleveland Browns, for their season opener of the 2020 regular season.
The Ravens swooped in and snatched up their first 2020 win fairly easily against the Browns during Week 1, with strong players such as Lamar Jackson, leading the offense to victory and only throwing five incomplete passes. Jackson, MVP of 2019, finished the game with 275 passing yards, and three thrown touchdowns.
Other players that were also key in the Ravens’ victory, were wide receivers Marquise Brown Jr. and tight end Mark Andrews. Andrews caught two touchdowns. Brown caught a touchdown and had 101 receiving yards. J. K. Dobbins, also contributed by scoring two touchdowns, as well.
Browns roasted on social media
While fans praised the Ravens for their knock-out victory, fans of from all over took to social media to voice their feelings about the loss for the Browns.
Tweets from one fan read, “The Browns getting smoked by the Ravens actually gives me hope for our country. It’s by far the most normal thing that’s happened in 2020. We can do this everyone!”. Another one read, “No matter what century it is, The Browns will always be the Browns”
Mike Polk Jr. joined in on the twitter banter, tweeting “During next commercial break Baltimore should reposition a bunch of their cardboard fans onto the stairs like they’re leaving to try and beat traffic. #Browns”
However, despite the light-hearted teasing about the week 1 game, these tweets address Brown’s fan’s concerns for the rest of the season.
The game did not go well for them, to say the least, with Baker Mayfield throwing an interception on the Browns first drive and the Browns being 3rd & 41 at the nine-minute, 26-second mark. Nearly half the length of the whole field.
This loss marks the 15 consecutive loss the Browns have had on a Week 1 opener.
