Packers cornerback Rasul Douglas has been named the NFC’s Defensive Player of the Week. This is the Packers’ first Defensive or Offensive player of the Week in the 2021 campaign.
The Athletic’s Matt Schneidman reported the news via Twitter on Wednesday.
Packers CB Rasul Douglas named NFC Defensive Player of the Week for his four PBUs and pick-six against the Rams. Continues to be one of the team’s best stories this season. Packers are his fourth team in 2021 alone.

As stated in the tweet above, Douglas has four pass break-ups and a timely pick six against Matthew Stafford and the Rams. The interception going the other way all but iced the game for the Green Bay Packers. This was just his second interception on the season, but both have been back-breaking for his opponent. His first came in the end zone against a then-undefeated Cardinals team in the waning moments of the game.
Douglas was a third round selection in the 2017 NFL Draft out of West Virginia. He was drafted by the Eagles, spending three years in Philadelphia and winning a Super Bowl. Following that, he had one year with the Panthers. Douglas then bounced around practice squads in 2021 before the Packers picked him up. The practice squad he was on most recently was the Cardinals, who he helped beat in Week 8.
