Green Bay Packers outside linebacker Rashan Gary is confirmed to have an ACL tear. This injury diagnosis will officially keep Gary off of the field for the remainder of the 2022-2023 season. He suffered the injury in Week 9’s loss; the Packers’ fifth in a row.
The NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported the news via Twitter on Monday.
Gary, one of the Packers’ best defensive players, was their first round draft pick in 2019. He has been a fairly reliable player, only missing three games in his first three seasons. The team picked up his fifth-year option for 2022.
In six games in 2022, Gary recorded six sacks, 23 combined tackles (15 solo) and one forced fumble and fumble recovery. Last season, as the Packers fielded a top-10 defense in many respects, he had 9.5 sacks and two forced fumbles (both career highs).
