Cornerback Rashaan Melvin has informed the Carolina Panthers that he is retiring according to Ari Meirov.
Melvin, 32, spent seven seasons in the league with the Ravens, Patriots, Colts, Raiders, Lions and Panthers. The journeyman had four interceptions and 41 passes defended in his career.
The Panthers lose some depth in their secondary, but do have some former high draft picks who are set to start. Most of the snaps at corner are projected to be taken by Donte Jackson, Jaycee Horn and C.J. Henderson.
