Los Angeles has a new face in town to serve as their backup. Former Boise State quarterback Brett Rypien and son of Super Bowl MVP Mark Rypien is being signed by the Rams as their new backup option as Stetson Bennett has been put on the non-football injury list.
The NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported the news via Twitter on Thursday.
Bennett has been placed on the NFI list due to an issue that head coach Sean McVay said was “bigger than football.” He chose not to give any more details about the situation, but the move was sudden and left the Rams without a second option.
Rypien was the Mountain West Conference’s Offensive Player of the Year in 2018, Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2015 and a three-time First Team All-MWC player during his time in college. He went undrafted in the 2019 NFL Draft.
