The Los Angeles Rams have completed a trade to acquire seven-time Pro Bowl defensive end Myles Garrett from the Cleveland Browns. In return, the Browns will receive two-time Pro Bowl defensive end Jared Verse, a 2027 first round pick and other future draft capital. Ian Rapoport initially reported the trade.
Garrett, 30, has played with the Browns for his entire nine-year career. He has made a trade request in the past, but it wasn’t granted until now. In his first nine seasons, Garrett has registered 125.5 sacks, which is tied for 20th on the all-time list.
The Rams have traded draft picks to acquire win-now talent in the past. Earlier this offseason, they acquired Trent McDuffie from the Chiefs and now pair him with Myles Garrett on defense. They are the current Super Bowl favorites.
Verse, 25, has had a good start to his career, as he has 12 sacks over his first two seasons and has made the Pro Bowl in each of those seasons.
Cleveland now gets younger and adds future draft picks to build for the future. The Browns will likely be in the market for a quarterback in the 2027 NFL Draft and now have the picks to draft or make a move for one.
