The Eagles are on a much-needed bye week, as they have played 13 straight weekends. This is a perfect opportunity for players to rest and get healthy before the final four games of the regular season. Philadelphia will be playing NFC East teams from here on out, with a possible playoff berth on the line. The Eagles are a surprise team this year, with most people thinking they were going to be among the worst in the offseason. They started the season struggling as they only won two of the first seven games they have played. After that, the Eagles managed to go 4-2, as they found new life in their rushing attack. This article will be predicting the rest of the Philadelphia Eagles schedule.
12/19 Washington Football Team
The Eagles start with a home game against the Washington Football Team after the bye week. This game is important because it will set the tone for the final stretch of the season. Washington features a running game of their own, as they have Antonio Gibson. He has 800 yards on the season, which puts him in fifth place among running backs in terms of yardage. He also has five touchdowns. Washington also has a young quarterback in Taylor Heinicke, who has been impressive as he has 18 touchdowns on the season. He does turn the ball over a lot as he has 11 interceptions.
Washington’s defense is also great at stopping the run, as they rank third in that category. The Eagles will need to find success in the passing game, but still find ways to rush the ball if they are going to come out of this game with a win.
Prediction: Eagles Win: 21-16
12/26 New York Giants
The Eagles will then face the Giants over Christmas. The Eagles struggled to score points against this team during their first meeting. They only scored one touchdown throughout the entire game as the Giants won a defensive matchup by a score of 13-7. This second game should be a little different though, as the Eagles will be at home. Philadelphia will also know what to expect coming from the Giants this go around and make the appropriate adjustments. The Eagles passed a lot in the first game against the Giants, which is not their strength. The Eagles will need to focus on running the ball more this time, as that is their best chance at victory.
Prediction: Eagles Win: 17-14
1/2 at Washington Football Team
This will be the second meeting between these two teams in three weeks. This game will come down to whoever makes the proper adjustments from the first game between the two teams. Washington is a dangerous team and could make the Playoffs if they find success in their final games. This is also the final road game for the Eagles as the game will be in Washington. The Football Team will give the Eagles a setback and hand them a loss. This should be a close game though as it will be settled by a field goal.
Prediction: Washington Wins-21-24
1/9 Dallas Cowboys
The final game of the season will be a huge game against the division-leading Dallas Cowboys. This is a familiar situation as the Eagles might be in playoff contention and this could be a game that could either make or break the Eagles’ playoff hopes. Dallas dashed their dreams last year. Philadelphia lost their last meeting by 20 points earlier in the season. Prescott burned them for three touchdown passes, while Ezekiel Elliot was just shy of 100 rushing yards and had two touchdowns.
This game was before the Eagles found their potent rushing attack, as Jalen Hurts threw the ball most of the game. This game will be a different story because of the change in Philadelphia’s offense. The Eagles should find some success in the running game this time around. This will give the Eagles better opportunities to pass, as Hurts should find more success against Dallas. Unfortunately, it is predicted that the Eagles will fall just short and lose this game by a touchdown.
Prediction: Cowboys Win: 21-28
This would put the Eagles at a record of 8-9 to end the season. It is hard to predict if this record will put the Eagles in a wild card spot, but it will certainly give the Eagles a chance if the rest of the league helps them out. This concludes predicting the rest of the Philadelphia Eagles schedule.
