Predicting Packers’ Win-Loss Total in 2022-2023

Ben HendricksBy Ben HendricksMay 17, 20226 Mins Read

The NFL schedules for every team have been released. That means it’s the beginning of the arbitrary exercise of fans of every single squad trying to predict their win totals. Of course, injuries and other extenuating circumstances come into play in the regular season, but this is a place for blind speculation given what is known about the Green Bay Packers at the outset of the 2022-2023 NFL season.

Here is the predicted win-loss total for the Green Bay Packers in 2022-2023.

    Week 1: Packers at Vikings

If this game were later in the season, this would be an easy choice for a divisional loss. The Vikings have gotten one over on the Packers in their building in the past few years. But being that it takes place Week 1, the back-to-back MVP will find a way to win this contest even with his new-look receiving core.

    Record: 1-0

    Week 2: Bears vs. Packers

The Packers’ window is still wide open, and the Bears have seemed to committed to a rebuild. Add onto that, Rodgers’ record against the Bears is 23-5 and this game is at Lambeau Field. That is the recipe for an easy win.

    Record: 2-0

    Week 3: Packers at Buccaneers

Expect the Packers to pull their punches in this game. This is an extremely likely candidate for a playoff matchup, if not a 2021 NFC Championship Game rematch, and they will not want to show their entire hand in Week 3. Green Bay takes the loss here, but in stride.

    Record: 2-1

    Week 4: Packers at Patriots

This could be a closer game than people might think. Belichick schemes to take away his opponents’ biggest strength every single week. The Packers’ strengths will start to become clear in Week 4, allowing Bill to slow the offense down. With that being said, the Patriots are usually the weakest in the early months of the season, and Green Bay’s defense will be prepared for Mac Jones. This should be a win, even in hostile territory.

    Record: 3-1

    Week 5: Giants vs. Packers

The Giants drafted well, but are rebuilding. There really is not much to say about this matchup, except that fantasy football managers should look to stream the Packers’ defense (if they’re available) this week against Daniel Jones’ fumbling problems.

    Record: 4-1

    Week 6: Jets vs. Packers

Speaking of New York teams that drafted well but are still weak, the Jets probably had the best draft in 2022. Although, Zach Wilson would have to play outside of his mind to beat Rodgers in Lambeau. Watch the Packers’ pass rush in this game, as it may start to come into its own in Week 6.

    Record: 5-1

    Week 7: Packers at Commanders

If Carson Wentz is healthy and doesn’t make his trademark head-scratching mistakes, then this game could be very fun; a shootout, even. Commanders’ head coach Ron Rivera is known as a defensive guru, so he will be ready for these rookie receivers. But Washington probably does not have the fire power on either side of the ball to win this game.

    Record: 6-1

    Week 8: Packers at Bills

This game will be hosted in Orchard Park, which makes this a very probable Bills win. Buffalo was already one of the best teams in the NFL and got better in the offseason/draft. Expect a very high-scoring and exciting game, though.

    Record: 6-2

    Week 9: Packers at Lions

The Lions upset the Packers as they rested starters in Week 17 of 2021. That will not be the case when they visit Detroit so early in the season. Packers win, but Detroit keeps it closer than fans might wish.

    Record: 7-2

    Week 10: Cowboys vs. Packers

Rodgers is 7-1 against the Cowboys in their last eight matchups, including the playoffs. Dallas lost a lot of receiving talent in the offseason, and their offensive line seems to be taking a bit of a slide in production. This is a win for Green Bay.

    Record: 8-2

    Week 11: Titans vs. Packers

It’s always tough to predict a loss for the Pack when they’re playing at home, but the Titans rushing attack is just too good if Derrick Henry is healthy. Green Bay will have their division essentially sown up in the next few games after this, while Tennessee might be fighting for its playoff life. The Titans run over the Packers’ improved front seven here.

    Record: 8-3

    Week 12: Packers at Eagles

This one is difficult, as fans still don’t know quite what to expect out of Jalen Hurts. This could be a sneaky loss or a convincing win, but given the roster make-ups and the battle-tested experience of this Packers team, they get a win on the road here.

    Record: 9-3

    Week 13: Packers at Bears

Rodgers is more motivated than ever to sweep the Bears after his “I own you” tirade the last time his team played at Soldier Field. He comes out on tilt in this game and the Pack puts up at least 35 points.

    Record: 10-3

    Week 14: BYE

    Week 15: Rams vs. Packers

This matchup looks a lot like the Buccaneers game, in which coach LaFleur plays his cards extremely close to the chest. He and the team will be fine giving one away to the defending Super Bowl Champions if it means beating them in the playoffs.

    Record: 10-4

    Week 16: Packers at Dolphins

Strange things happen late in the season in Miami; just ask the Patriots. One of Rodgers’ most famous plays came against the Dolphins as had to pull off a fake spike just to beat a (then) below average squad. The Dolphins should be much better if Tua Tagovailoa is up to snuff. But, there are a bunch of “ifs” surrounding this team before the season starts to give them a win here.

    Record: 11-4

    Week 17: Vikings vs. Packers

Odds are, the Vikings will be fighting for a playoff spot in the last 4-5 weeks of the season. They are going to pull out all of the stops to beat Green Bay in Lambeau here. But, the Packers themselves might be fighting for their third-straight first round bye. Packers still win, based solely on the fact that this game is at home.

    Record: 12-4

    Week 18: Lions vs. Packers

As stated earlier, the Lions won the last game of their season as the Pack rested starters and played a bit under tempo. But, that was in Detroit. This game is in Lambeau and LaFleur will not want to send the Green Bay fans unhappy in Week 18. Packers rest some starters again, but still win this game.

    Record: 13-4
