The NFL Trade Deadline is within a week, which means some key players will be on the move. One of the players who has been involved in trade rumors is Ryan Kerrigan of the Washington Football Team. Here are the five potential trade destinations for Ryan Kerrigan.
1. Las Vegas Raiders
After winning this weekend, the Raiders are above .500 and are looking towards competing for the playoffs. In order to reach the playoffs and compete if they get there, the Raiders need to improve their pass defense. That may include adding a player to the secondary, but they should also improve their pass rush, as they have just seven sacks on the season.
After getting production from rookies Maxx Crosby and Clelin Ferrell last season, the Raiders haven’t had that production this season. Kerrigan is unhappy with his playing time in Washington and would be able to see the field with Las Vegas. He could vastly improve the pass rush.
2. Tennessee Titans
The Titans added Jadeveon Clowney to help with their pass rush, but it hasn’t helped. Tennessee has just seven sacks on the season. They have already acquired help for their secondary in Desmond King, but if they want to reach the AFC Championship Game again, they need to get to the quarterback more often.
Kerrigan would give the Titans another option to rush the passer. While they likely don’t want to spend more money on pass rushers, if they don’t start racking up sacks, the Titans are destined to lose in the playoffs if they make it that far. They likely could get Kerrigan for relatively cheap since he isn’t playing much.
3. Carolina Panthers
Carolina has defied the odds and put themselves into position to make the playoffs. They could stand to improve in a few areas, but one of the areas that would help most is their pass rush. The Panthers have just eight sacks on the season, which is the fourth worst in the league.
While Brian Burns is a good, young edge rusher, the Panthers could get Kerrigan to line up across from him. If opposing teams had to worry about two solid pass rushers, it would make it tougher for them to handle their assignments. Kerrigan’s pressure could help the Panthers get to the playoffs.
4. Seattle Seahawks
Seattle has to find a way to improve their defense. They are giving up way too many points and just have 12 sacks on the season. Adding secondary help and more pass rushers would greatly help their chances of going far in the playoffs this season.
The Seahawks already added Carlos Dunlap to their pass rush via a trade. Dunlap will help a little bit, but more is needed to give Seattle a great pass rush. The Seahawks have already given up a lot of picks to acquire Dunlap and Jamal Adams, but since Kerrigan could be had for cheap, they may pull the trigger on the deal.
5. Arizona Cardinals
Kyler Murray and the Arizona Cardinals have put themselves in a good position to make the playoffs. They have spent a lot of resources to improve the offense, but also need to improve their defense to make themselves legitimate contenders. While they have 19 sacks on the season, they can still improve in this area.
Their best pass rusher, Chandler Jones, is out for the season with a right biceps injury. Because of this, they should be exploring the trade market for pass rushers. Kerrigan would be a cheap way to improve their pass rush, while they try to make a run at the playoffs.
