Pittsburgh Steelers are Most Hated NFL Team, New Survey Says

Publish Date: November 1, 2020

A new survey conducted on Twitter suggests that the Pittsburgh Steelers are the most hated football team in the NFL.

The Steelers are dominating the game, with their 2020 season record being 6-0. However, as Steeler fans celebrate, the rest of the league’s fans aren’t as happy with the team. At least according to a new Twitter study conducted by SportsInsider.

SportsInsider this last Tuesday, gathered and tracked over 90,000 tweets that contained the phrase “hate the Steelers!” The survey found that most of the tweets originated from Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana, Maryland, Delaware, Connecticut and Rhode Island.

Ohio and Maryland are no surprise, considering the Steelers rivalries with the Cleveland Browns, Cincinnati Bengals and Baltimore Ravens. However, the news of Tennessee and Kentucky adding to the Steelers hate comes fresh off the Tennessee Titans’ loss this last Sunday. This could possibly be the start of a new rivalry if the trend counties in next season.

Who Else Made the List

Graph Depicts Teams Most Hated in Each State While eight states in the country hate the Steelers, other states also have a team they love to hate. The second most hated team in the NFL are the Green Bay Packers, with most of the tweets coming from the states surrounding Wisconson.

Coming in third are the San Fransico 49ers’ being, and the place of fourth coming to a four-way tie between the Las Vegas Raiders, New York Jets, Philadelphia Eagles and Atlanta Falcons, all having four states hating them.

There are also states exclusively hate a team. Interestingly, Missouri is the only state to shown to hate the Los Angeles Chargers, despite the main rival to the Kansas City Chiefs are the Las Vegas Raiders.

Twitter users in Pennsylvania hate the Ravens out of all the Pennsylvania teams. Coincidentally, they play the Ravens today at 1:00 pm at the Ravens home field.
