This was an interesting game between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Thursday night. Tampa Bay controlled and dominated a lot of this football game. Although the Eagles did make it interesting once again at the end. They did not complete the comeback like they did against Carolina last week. The Buccaneers won by a score of 28-22. The article will recap the Philadelphia Eagles Week 6 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Hurts did not have his best performance during this game throwing the ball. He completed 12 out of his 26 attempts and had 115 passing yards. He did have one passing touchdown and two rushing touchdowns. Hurts just couldn’t seem to get into a rhythm passing the ball. The Buccaneers’ defense brought the pressure to him all night. He got sacked twice in this game. The Eagles quarterback also took more shots deep into coverage and paid for with an interception by the Buccaneers defense.

Hurts did not have a perfect night by far, but he did bring the Eagles back from a 28-7 deficit. He did most of that with his legs. He is great at making what seems like a negative play and turning it into a positive, as Hurts is very speedy and elusive out of the pocket.
Little did NFL fans know, Zach Ertz made his final appearance as an Eagle in this game, as he was traded to the Arizona Cardinals the next day. He got the Eagles on the board first, as he caught a short five-yard pass from Hurts for a touchdown. Ertz had six targets in this game and caught four of those balls. He ended the game with 29 receiving yards. Eagle’s fans will miss and appreciate Zack Ertz, as he was one of the Eagles’ best tight ends of all time. He ended his nine-year career with the Eagles with 6,267 receiving yards and 38 touchdowns.
Philadelphia’s defense was not the best in this game. They applied absolutely no pressure to Tom Brady during this game. Brady had all the time in the world to find his receivers, which ultimately dug the Eagles’ grave in this game. The defense also played very soft coverage on the Buccaneers’ receivers, which is not something to do against an all-time great quarterback like Tom Brady. The Eagles defense had a hard time getting off the field all night, as Tampa Bay was 7/13 on third down conversations. Leonard Fournette was also a beast at running back. He is such a big and physical runner and can gain a lot of extra yardage with that style. Philadelphia allowed Fournette to rush for 81 yards and two touchdowns.
The Eagles did do some positive things on defense. Anthony Harris had the Eagles’ lone interception of the Game. This was an easy interception as Brady overthrew a deep ball and it went straight into the hands of Anthony Harris. Alex Singleton is still a complete monster on this Eagles’ defense. He is always one of the Eagles’ top tacklers every week. Singleton was all over the field and always made his presence known. He had 15 total tackles with eight of those being solo tackles.
Overall, this was not a bad loss for the Eagles. It looked at first that Philadelphia was going to be run out of the building, but they overcame Tampa Bay’s onslaught and made a game out of it at the end. The Eagles will look to bounce back from this loss as they will travel to Las Vegas next week to face the Raiders. This concludes this Philadelphia Eagles Week 6 game recap against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
