The Eagles will be at home once again to take on a struggling New York Giants team. The Giants are really playing for pride at this point as they have a 4-10 record and are out of the playoff race. Philadelphia on the other hand, is playing for an NFC Wildcard spot. Every game till the end of the season is basically playoff game for the Eagles since the NFC Wildcard race is so close. The Eagles are nine and a half point favorites in this game which makes sense because they have won four out of their last five games. This article will preview the Philadelphia Eagles Week 16 game against the New York Giants.
The Eagles have already played the Giants once this year during Week 12. This was mostly a defensive low scoring matchup, as the Giants got the better of the Eagles by a score of 13 to 7. Jalen Hurts passed a lot in this game which usually doesn’t spell good things for the Eagles’ offense. He was 14 of 31 for 129 yards. Even though he did pass a lot, Philadelphia still got over 200 yards total rushing in that game. Both Boston Scott and Miles Sanders had 64 yards with Scott having the lone Eagles touchdown.

Philadelphia just struggled to score in this game because of a smothering Giants defense that day. The Giants did have Daniel Jones that day who the Giants have been without recently due to injury. Jones had a good day as he had 202 yards passing and one touchdown. The Eagles will need a different strategy going into this upcoming game against New York if they want to win.
As said earlier, Hurts passed way too much during his last game with the Giants. Philadelphia needs to stick with what got them a chance at making a playoff run, which is running the ball. Sanders has been on fire recently as he has rushed for over 100 yards in his last two games on the ground. Furthermore, Jordan Howard has been a great second back to Sanders. He is consistently getting over 50 yards a game and even some games hitting that 100-yard mark. Adding the threat of the Hurts keeping the ball makes this formula for the Eagles so much more potent. This is what the Eagles need to stick with to win this game.
As for the passing attack, Hurts needs to avoid the interceptions and just turnovers in general. He needs to do a better job taking care of the ball if he gets sacked, as he fumbled against Washington last week. Furthermore, he needs to find Devonta Smith more as he has been quiet the past few games. He had 40 yards receiving against Washington. Luckily, Dallas Goedert has stepped up and has he been on fire recently. He has had two straight games where has gone 100 yards receiving. Hurts needs to get him involved when passing this coming weekend. Overall if he can get those two involved and keep the running game going then the Eagles should be in good shape.
The Giants are going into this weekend ranked dead last in the league in offensive touchdowns. They are still without Daniel Jones and are starting to doubt Mike Glennon. Jake Fromm has been rumored to start this game, but that is yet to be confirmed. The Eagles, on the other hand, are hot and has the rushing attack going. Their only concern is they may not have their head coach Nick Sirianni on the sideline due to a positive COVID test. The Eagles should win this weekend and cover the nine-and-a-half-point line.
