Philadelphia Eagles Rundown: July 18

Publish Date: July 18, 2021

This is another edition of Philadelphia Eagles Rundown for the week of July 18. This will bring all the latest news on the Eagles this week. This edition will cover rumors that Philadelphia may have what they need to trade for Deshaun Watson and the Eagles holding a joint training camp with two NFL teams. This article will also cover Jason Kelce setting the record straight on how to say his name.

Deshaun Watson to Philadelphia?

Deshaun Watson has not had a spectacular off-season with his sexual allegations coming to light. There is some news about him that involves football and the Philadelphia Eagles. ESPN insider Adam Schefter told John Kincade of 97.5 the Fanatic that the Eagles are in the best position to get Watson. He also said that if the Eagles do manage to acquire Watson, then the Eagles will automatically become a Super Bowl contender. This is great news for Eagles fans, as a lot of media outlets have put the Eagles at the bottom of the NFL for this coming NFL season.

Watson, who is a three-time Pro Bowler, has certainly earned the right to be one of the NFL’s better quarterbacks. He has a few awards during his time in the NFL. He earned a spot on the 2017 all-rookie team. The Texans quarterback has also earned a spot in the NFL Top 100 three years in a row. Watson passed for 4,823 and threw for 33 touchdowns in 2021. He has also led the Texans to a couple of playoff appearances. Of course, this is all just speculation at this point, but the Eagles have a chance to be special if they get Watson.

Eagles to hold joint training camps with two teams

According Chris McPherson, the Eagles will be  holding a joint training camp with the New York Jets and the New England Patriots. The Eagles do face the Patriots during a preseason game and later during the season. This will only give the Eagles more competition during the offseason and get feel for some of the new competition in the league. The Eagles first day of training camp comes on July 28. Their first preseason game will be against the Pittsburgh Steelers on August 12. It will be interesting to see how the Eagles look during training camp and it will give fans an idea of what to expect from the team in 2021.

Jason Kelce on how to pronounce his name

Eagles center Jason Kelce was on 94 WIP, which is a radio station in Philadelphia, during the week. NFL Eagles fans have also called him Jason “Kel-see.” During his radio interview, he set the record straight in saying that fans have been mispronouncing his name. During the interview he said that the correct pronunciation of his name is Jason “Kelss.” The big center did come out and say that he prefers what NFL and Eagles fans have been pronouncing his name his whole career. He said that his side of the family also pronounces their last name as “Kel-see.”
