Philadelphia Eagles Game Recap: Week 8

Publish Date: November 1, 2022

The Philadelphia Eagles are still undefeated after defeating the Pittsburgh Steelers this past weekend by a score of 35-13. This is the first since 2004 that the Eagles have started a season 7-0. The Eagles went to the Super Bowl that year against the New England Patriots. This article will recap the Philadelphia Eagles Week 8 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

A.J. Brown Shined

A.J. Brown was the player of the game on Sunday. He burned the Pittsburgh defense with three touchdowns and 156 yards receiving. Brown scored all three of these touchdowns in the first half. His first touchdown was a 39-yard reception in double coverage that got the Eagles on the board first. His second touchdown came in the second quarter. He caught a 27-yard pass from Jalen Hurts. Brown was blanketed by a Steelers defender but still came down with the catch for a touchdown.

Later in the second quarter, Brown caught a 27-yard touchdown pass. This was another play where Brown was covered but Jalen Hurts threw the ball right where it needed to be. Overall, this was a stellar performance by Brown. In fact, it was so good that the league drug-tested Brown after the game.

Jalen Hurts had a monster game

Anyone that still doubts Jalen Hurts is crazy. Brown had a great game but he wouldn’t have had that game if he did not have a great quarterback. hurts threw all three of those touchdown passes to Brown perfectly. This is a major difference from a year ago where Hurts struggled with those long throws. Hurts really worked on his game throughout the offseason. His fourth touchdown pass came early in the third quarter. It was a 34-yard touchdown pass to Zach Pascal. This was his first touchdown catch of the season. Overall, Hurts had 285 yards and four touchdown passes. If Hurts keeps it up, then the Eagles will win a lot more games this season.

Eagles’ defense stifled the Steelers offense

The Eagles’ defense had another great game. They held Kenny Pickett to 191 passing yards. This was due to the Eagles’ amazing pass-rushing ability. They made Pickett uncomfortable the entire game. Philadelphia totaled six sacks throughout the game. Javon Hargrave led the Eagles in sacks with two. C.J. Gardner-Johnson, Hassan Reddick, Marlon Tuipulotu and Milton Williams all got in on the action with one sack each.

The Eagles also forced turnovers in this game. Avonte Maddox recovered a Kenny Pickett fumble. Furthermore, C.J. Gardner Johnson also came up with an interception in this game. The leading tackler in this game was T.J. Edward with 13 tackles. This is not surprising as Edwards has been brilliant all year.  Kyzir White was the second-leading tackler with 11.

In conclusion, the whole team did what was needed to get the win on Sunday. The Eagles were clicking on Cylinders. The Eagles’ next game will be against the Houston Texans on Thursday night. This concludes this Philadelphia Eagles Week 8 game recap.
