This is part three of looking at the Philadelphia Eagles schedule and predicting their win-loss total for the 2022 NFL season. This edition will go through Weeks 9-11.
Week Nine at Texans, 11/3, Prime Video, 8:15
The Eagles will have another primetime matchup this time on a Thursday night against the Houston Texans. The Texans are coming off a bad 2021 season with a record of 4-13 and finished third in the AFC South in front of the Jaguars. The Texans are going into the 2022 season with a new head coach in Lovie Smith as he will look to turn this Houston team around. Houston started quarterback Davis Mills for a lot of the season last year. He threw for 2,664 yards, 16 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. He did not have the best season, but this was his rookie year which comes with a lot of growing pains. Furthermore, the Texans also had one of the worst defenses in the NFL last season as they gave up 26. 6 points a game which is near the bottom of the league.
Philadelphia should not have a lot of issues beating this Texans team in 2022. The Eagles offense has a lot of explosive components that Houston more than likely will not be able to keep up with. Hurts has many weapons on the offensive side of the ball including DeVonta Smith and A.J. Brown. They also have a running attack that was tops in the NFL last year which consists of Miles Sanders and Boston Scott. Expect the Eagles to win this game rather comfortably.
Eagles Win: 34-14
Week Ten vs Commanders, 11/14, 8:15, ESPN
The Eagles will be in their second primetime game in a row, this time against the Washington Commanders. This would be the second game of the season between these two teams as they will have faced them in Week three at Washington. This game will be a lot closer than the Week three matchup that was predicted in part one. It was predicted that the Eagles would win by two touchdowns. Washington will be ready to go as they will get their first primetime game at home of the season. It is predicted that Philadelphia will sweep Washington in the season series as they should win this game by a field goal.
Eagles Win: 20-17
Week Eleven at Colts, 11/20, 1pm, CBS
The Colts will be a tough matchup for the Eagles in Week eleven. Indianapolis has made some changes in the offseason primarily being that Matt Ryan will be their starting quarterback. He has been in the league since 2008 and is one of the best at throwing the football. Ryan has also been a four-time Pro Bowler throughout his NFL career. However, he is not the only player the Eagles will have to contend with, as the Colts have one the best running back in the league in Jonathon Taylor. He had over 1,800 rushing yards and 18 touchdowns in 2021. The defense also looks good as the Colts have a great linebacker in Darius Leonard and newly added Stephon Gilmore in the secondary.
This is one of those games where the Eagles may struggle. The defense will have their hands full with a veteran quarterback and a beast in Jonathan Taylor. The Colts’ defense should also give the Eagles’ offense some issues. The key to the Eagles winning this game would be to contain Johnathan Taylor as much as possible and to put pressure on Ryan. Furthermore, they also would have to get some extra possessions on offense through turnovers. However, in conclusion, it is predicted that the Eagles will lose this game in Indy by a little more than a touchdown.
Eagles Lose: 17-28
This concludes part three of looking at the Philadelphia Eagles’ 2022 Schedule and predicting their win-loss total for the 2022 season. The Eagles end part three with a predicted record of 7-3
