The Packers are using their franchise tag on superstar wide receiver Davante Adams. This move comes just hours after Green Bay re-signed and restructured back-to-back MVP Aaron Rodgers. The Packers will continue to own maybe best quarterback-wide receiver combination in the NFL.
The NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported the news via Twitter on Tuesday, ahead of the franchise tag deadline which occurs at 4:00pm.

Adams is a five-time Pro Bowl receiver, and has been a First Team All-Pro selection twice. The Pro Bowl selections have come in consecutive years since 2017, as have the All-Pro selections since 2020. He led all receivers in touchdowns with 18 in 2020, racking up 1,374 yards along the way. In 2021, he posted his best receiving yards and receptions mark, at 1,553 and 123, respectively.
The franchise tag was applied to Adams due to the Packers’ cap constraints. The team may look different next season, but the Rodgers-to-Adams connection will be retained. It is likely that the team is discussing a long-term deal with him already.
