The Green Bay Packers have already released LB Jaylon Smith. He signed with Green Bay ahead of Week 6, played two games with the Packers and is already off the roster as of Tuesday afternoon. This is Smith’s second time being released this season, after the Cowboys cut him.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported the news via Twitter on Tuesday.
Smith was a former second round pick (34th overall), in the 2016 NFL Draft out of Notre Dame. He played for Dallas for the six years plus four games before being released and picked up by the Packers.
During his two-game stint with Green Bay, Smith totaled one solo tackle and no other statistics. The Cowboys continue to pay most of his 2021 salary, after which he will become a free agent with no active deals. He can be signed by another team before the season is over, however.
